Group fitness classes
University Sports of Oulu organizes group fitness classes in city centre and Linnanmaa. There are many different classes with different levels.

Participation with the Sports Pass, no pre-registration. If you have your own exercise mat please take it with you.

INTENSITY LEVELS
Red = Heavy: Challenging classes
Yellow = Medium-heavy: Suitable for all but more challenging classes than green ones
Green = Easy: Suitable for all
Pump
Easy and effective body shaping by using power bars, dumbbells and step boards. No hard step patterns or jumps. Suitable for every one!
Abs-Butt-Thighs
After the warm-up there is a muscular training focusing on abs, butt and thigh muscles. The class is suitable for everyone.
Core30
Core workout to improve posture and strengthen core muscles. Suitable for everyone, always showing easier and harder way to do every movement.
Kettlebell
Kettlebell circuit improves strenght, endurance, balance and movability. Previous kettlebell experience not required.
Total body
Balanced training to your whole body. Class includes easy step patterns and versatile muscle fitness. Increases your stamina and firms your body. Suits for everyone.
Functional Training
Functional Training class will develop your muscle tone, body control and coordination. The class challenges both body and mind but it's not easy because the moves can be demanding. Class is suitable for those who want to challenge yourself and learn new things.
Circuit
Versatile training with both muscle fitness and pulse parts. It´s easy to adjust the pace and effectiveness of the movements. So you can train exactly with the tempo you want to. Suitable for everybody.
Gymcircuit
Instructed gym training (circuit) with both muscle fitness and pulse parts. It is easy to adjust the pace and effectiveness of the movements. Suitable for everyone. You can train exactly with the tempo you want to.
Core30 + Stretching30
Core training (30 min) is effective middle body training. It focuses on the development of belly muscles and back muscles. Rest of the class (30 min) is relaxing stretching. Suitable for everyone.
STRONG by Zumba®
The original STRONG by Zumba® class is a demanding hour-long session that works your entire body. It combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. In each class you'll burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. Plyometric or explosive moves like high knees, burpees, and jumping jacks are interchanged with isometric moves like lunges, squats, and kickboxing.
ZUMBA®
Exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness class for everybody and every body! Each class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. Class is a mix of low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.
Hiit45
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) is an intense workout in which a thorough warm-up is followed by alternating short, intensive interval sections and recovery periods. The heart rate is kept high and the class makes use of easy but intensive moves such as jumps and sprints.
Combat
Class forms of steps which are spiced up with kicks, blows and jumps. Includes also muscle fitness.
Total Training
In Total Training we do simple, effective and pulse raising fitness training that also trains your muscles. The class is suitable for all those that want an effective workout. Some parts of the class will involve maintaining a high heart rate.
Fitness boxing
Fitness boxing is an efficient and safe form of exercise. In the training, we use e.g. focus mitts and boxing bags. The class includes warm-up, technique exercises with a pair, an efficient workout and final stretching. The class can also involve circuit training. Boxing gloves are provided by the instructors. NOTE! In order to participate in the Fitness Boxing class, you have to master the basic techniques of boxing. If you have never participated in fitness boxing before, you have to take the fitness boxing basic course first.
Brasil-afrodance
Dance class consist of African rhythms. Soft afro movements remove stiffness of the back, shoulders and chest. This class is suitable for everyone interested in dance.
Sambic
Brazilian dance styles like samba, samba-Reggea, ax and samba funk. The class is suitable for everyone.
Dancetym
Dancetym is a fun class that uses the elements of Showdance to enjoy music, dance, sweating and also the dance technique! The class includes different choreographies and dancestyles and it's suitable for beginners as also for those who have danced before.
FitJog
In FitJog class you will learn the running technique. The class includes e.g. speed and coordination exercises.
Yang&yin Yoga
The class consists of classical asanas that are suitable for most. An hour is combined with slow and Astanga yoga. Slow yoga moves looking for the right alignment of the asana. A yoga class can be a flow-type or a somewhat more peaceful hour, so as the asana duration increases, muscle resistance develops. According to the breath, imports seek asana to relax and seek to optimize energy consumption.
Balance
Excellent class to take care of your body. Class includes different mobility exercises, such as dynamic and static stretches, and involves activating the core muscles. Different equipment can be used to aid body maintenance in the classes. Suitable for everyone.
PilatesFit
The PilatesFit class is for you who have attended the Pilates basic course or you have attended the Pilates classes. You get to develop your posture and body control, you get stronger, and you can loosen up tight areas in your body.
Power yoga
Power Yoga focuses on strength training with dynamic asanas and in the class there is less meditation. Power yoga develops skeletal muscles, strength and balance. It also improves flexibility, mobility and body care. During the lesson you will practice breathing rhythm and stretching is also an important part of strength yoga.
